An ongoing portrait series
carried within my drawing book wherever I go, each face holds a story. Originating as ink drawings on paper, these portraits are subsequently printed on A3 paper and signed by me, the artist, for your art collection <3 The faces depicted in these portraits ponder and contemplate; maybe it's the moment before an attack, or after an event has passed, or even in unrelated moments of stillness. Behind their intense eyes: undeniably a story. Each viewer will attach their own narratives to their distant gazes.

In my approach to drawing, I see myself as a simultaneous translator from reality to paper; I am a printing machine with some unique settings and occasional quirks. While certain parts of the face may be lost in the process, the essence remains: the expression of a life lived. From a distance, the image remains clear, even if the lines themselves are not anymore. It's uncertain whether my style, these specific settings, will change over time. Perhaps my hands will grow tired or it will get more precise. My body will accumulate more life experiences, and therefore perceive greater depths while looking at a stranger. Or, it can be that my mind simply will find more peace, and consequently, the eyes I depict will seem more at ease.

When I draw, my facial expression inevitably mirrors that of the subject being drawn. Even if only for the duration of the creative process, weird enough don't you think. If there are things on your mind now, you're very much welcome to reach out.
