“Birth through water. We were all born from the same body, and in this shared body we find collective rejuvenation. ‍ SOJI SOLARIN’s Spring collection recognizes the dawn of a new season as a pendant to the liberating qualities of water, much as the rain washes away the surface, as the sea engulfs the shore and soothes its roughness. This collection pays homage to the origins of a fantasy, a dream and a myth, telling the tale of mermaids and water, transgressing into cyber-futuristic forms. We believe that all life emerged from water. Soft, like silk. ‍ The first documentation of female creatures in water originate from indigenous African and Latin cultures, a narrative that has been predominately depicted by western cultures through different narratives. By traversing the past, SPAWN 2023 retells a story of love and connectivity that find form in a futuristic sphere. ‍ Silhouettes and predominant materials (leather, silk, cotton, nylon, velour) are aligned with the human need for a liberated body and inner flow. Creative Director Soji Solarin celebrates the body as inherently beautiful and profoundly dynamic which inspired SPAWN 2023 to be highly comfortable, yet outspokenly designed. While the collection is infused with new pieces that reference activewear, it is respecting the elegance of the human form, decorating it with purely hand sewn, embroidered and crocheted pieces.SPAWN 2023 goes beyond delicate designs. We made it our mission to create a symbiosis between nature and mythology, inspiring a futuristic desire of connectivity with the past and present. To this end, the body becomes a vessel of this story, celebrating the unity of our shared history in evolution: born of the same substance, nurtured by the present, emerging into cyber-futurism”
